During my time in Australia, I noticed that the Turkish community faces significant difficulties in dealing with problems in Turkey. These issues range from minor concerns to highly technical matters.
For instance, tasks related to homes in Turkey, dealings with Turkish telephone operators, banks, insurance companies, pension matters, or title deed transactions, which might take half a day to resolve for someone living in Turkey, could take at least a week for a Turkish person living in Australia.
The time difference with Turkey is much, making it hard to reach an institution by phone. Even if you manage to get through, obtaining the necessary information and resolving the issue becomes even more challenging. That made me wonder how a Turkish citizen in Australia finds a solution to legal problems in Turkey, and it quickly became this is the most difficult challenge of all.
A legal problem might seem manageable quickly, but once a case reaches the court stage, resolving it can take at least a year. Meeting with a lawyer, following the court process, obtaining accurate information, and explaining the issue in detail with evidence need many face-to-face interactions. Accomplishing these over the phone becomes nearly impossible. When unexpected victimization occurs, the situation can quickly spiral out of control.
Recognizing this, I decided to position myself as a resource and assist every Turkish citizen living here to the best of my ability. In April 2021, I hosted a seminar to explain Turkey's legal system and procedures. Since then, I’ve continued to help those who reached out to me with questions.
I aim to elevate the service I provide, especially through this new website, to a more professional level. My goal is to continue assisting the Turkish community in Australia and to address any concerns they may have. I believe that our citizens across Australia need accurate information, and it’s crucial to deliver effectively.
